Obituary of Kaija Irmeli Tiede

TIEDE – Kaija Irmeli (nee. Pellikka) of St Thomas passed away on Wednesday, December 4, 2024.  Beloved wife of David Tiede and adoptive mother of Andreas.  Survived by sister-in-law Jannice (Brian) of Smiths Falls, and Verena (late Raimo Pellikka) of Switzerland; and by many nieces and nephews in Switzerland.  Predeceased by her brother Jouni of Finland.

Kaija was born at home in Nurmes, Finland.  Through her adult life she lived in many countries throughout the world, eventually coming to Canada where she met David.  It was also in Canada that she became lifelong friends with Donna and Avo Kingu.  They always kept in touch as their travels took them in different directions. 

Dementia brought Kaija’s life to an early end.  A heartfelt “Thank You” to all who helped us during these difficult times.  St Thomas Police and Ambulance services, all the employees of St Thomas Elgin General Hospital plus the countless behind the scenes workers at various agencies.
