Gus was the charge custodian at East Elgin S. S. when I first started my teaching career. I loved our quick chats and laughs in the hallways and his friendly demeanour. You could always count on him!
My condolences to your family at this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Kim Vowles

Angus was a wonderful man…generous of spirit and time, kind and welcoming. At EESS, he always had or made time for a question, to help with a request or to share a smile. I remember being amazed when he offered to transport a van load of a my student’s equipment from his elementary school to EESS. He made the world a better place. Thank you Angus. Sending his family my deepest condolences.

Although Gus retired many years ago from EESS, he will not be forgotten. Gus was one of a kind and truly missed. He was always willing to help with anything and so easy to talk to. Gus was kind and caring and EESS has not been the same without him. Everyone adored Gus.

Gus was one of the great ones. I had the privilege of working with him for several years at East Elgin. As one of the staff advisors for Student Council, I often had to ask for "favours". With a smile on his face and that hearty laugh of his, he would drop whatever he was doing and come to my aid. As the math department head, I was often scrambling to find enough desks or chairs for our classes. I remember being in many a storage room at East Elgin as Gus and I waded through stuff to find what I was looking for. I was so thrilled when he was presented with the Award of Distinction and he certainly was deserving of that honour. I am deeply saddened to hear that we have lost him. My prayers and condolences go to his family.

Gus was a great guy. He was a co-worker and friend. When we had breaks together, he would love to talk about his wife Sue and daughter Andrea. We would tell fun stories and also share in our family worries. He liked to talk about his 90+ year old mother and her accomplishments throughout the years as well. He definitely was proud of his family and a gentleman. Working at EESS he brought such light into the school. He would always try and find the bright side of things and when we couldn’t find it, Gus’ belly laugh made everything better. He would talk in his Scottish accent and give us all a “wee chuckle”. Gus had such a great connection with everyone. He was able to talk with anyone, from the staff, parents, community and the students. I know Gus as a kind soul who would always be available to listen and give great advice. He was a very knowledgeable man. Gus and I would keep in touch through emails. He always seemed to know when us ladies in the office needed a funny email to lift our spirits when it was a busy time. I am so thankful to have known Angus Hutchison. My life is better because he brought extra light to me and many others around us. I know his spirit will help guide his family through the hard days ahead.
(((hugs)))

Such a wonderful person to have known! Gus was always there to help us in the Family Studies room whether it be a plugged sink, a flooded floor, or a mouse hunt!! He always had a laugh! He always made these inconveniences a little lighter! He will be remembered fondly!!

It was an honour working with Gus at East Elgin. He was one of the kindest and hardest working humans I knew. We could see how much he cared about his job and the people around him. My thoughts go out to his family and friends.
