Obituary of James Johnstone

JOHNSTONE-  James Foster Johnstone IV passed away in his sleep, at home on November 12, 2025 from complications of mouth cancer at the age of 60.

He leaves behind his partner of 34 years, Kevin Mathers, as well as his brother Jason Foster, sister-in-law Jane Wiley and nieces Faith and Camille Wiley Growing up James had a loving extended family from his aunt Alma and uncle Art, the Shea's, including cousins Don, Art Theresa, Glen and Shawn and their families. He is pre deceased by his mother, Inez Foster (nee Rever), father James Johnstone Ill and stepfather Ronald Foster.

James was born in Toronto and his family moved to Edmonton when he was a young child. He moved back to Toronto to attend university, where he met Kevin. Eleven years later the pair moved to London to continue their life together.

James spent many years working at Bell Communications, where he developed a close group of friends and colleagues with whom he stayed connected his entire life.

James and Kevin would like to thank the staff of LHSC Victoria hospital and the homecare staff for their careful attention in his final weeks.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made in his name to the Canadian

AIDS Society or the Canadian Cancer Society.

A memorial service will be announced in the coming weeks.
