Obituary of Douglas William Ough

OUGH – Douglas William of St Thomas, ON, formerly of Port Stanley and the United Kingdom, passed away peacefully on October 10, 2025 at the age of 97 years. He was born in London, England on June 22, 1928.

 

Beloved husband of Patricia Ough (nee Fleming). Douglas is also survived by his daughters Robin of St Thomas and Deborah of Port Stanley; grandchildren Garrett Nudds (Natasha) and Deirdre Nudds (Darren Whitesel); great grandfather to Erik and Ava Nudds. Douglas was predeceased by his parents William George and Eliza Ellen Louisa Ough (nee Sherlock) and by his sisters Jean Stilwell and Irene Beacom.

 

Douglas was an avid angler and boater, as well as a respected artist of fine carvings. He was a jack of all trades and a master of most. He was an amazing teacher to his daughters and grandchildren. Douglas was a former member of the Lake Erie Salmon and Trout Club, St Thomas Woodcarvers Club and the Canadian Power and Sail Squadron. Douglas was a man of honour and integrity, a true English gentleman.

 

Cremation has taken place and interment of ashes will take place in Elmdale Memorial Park Cemetery, 190 Wilson Ave, St Thomas, ON.

 

 Arrangements have been entrusted to Simplicity Cremation, 750 Talbot St. St. Thomas, ON (226-210-1086)
