Obituary of Claudette Brown
BROWN, Claudette (September 9, 1941 – July 25, 2025)
With profound love and sorrow, the family of Claudette Brown announces her peaceful passing in St. Thomas, Ontario. A devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, teacher, and woman of unwavering faith, Claudette leaves behind a legacy of strength, compassion, and love.
Claudette was born on September 9, 1941, in Timmins, Ontario, the beloved daughter of Alfred LeClair and Reina LeClair (née Mousseau), who were both born in Fort Coulonge, Quebec. Raised in a strong and loving French-Canadian home, Claudette carried her roots with her throughout her life.
She was one of seven siblings and cherished the bond she shared with each of them. Claudette was predeceased by her sisters Pat Blais, Thelma LeClair, and June Carboneau. She is lovingly remembered by her sister Lucy LaFlamme (Gus), and brothers Lorne LeClair (Kathy) and Gary LeClair. The closeness of the LeClair family was a lifelong source of strength, and Claudette treasured the memories they built together over the years.
Claudette dedicated her working life to the field of education, serving as a teacher who not only taught lessons but shaped lives. She brought patience, structure, and kindness to every classroom—and inspired many to find the best in themselves.
Claudette was predeceased by her devoted husband, Arnold Brown, with whom she shared many joyful years of marriage until his passing on July 3, 2015.
She leaves behind her two children, Liz Brown (Hackett) and Ashley Brown (Marie Brown), who were constants in her life and the quiet focus of her care and purpose. Though she wasn’t always one to speak her feelings aloud, her love ran deep—expressed not in grand gestures, but in the everyday ways she showed up and gave what she could. She was proud of the lives Liz and Ashley built, and carried that pride with her in quiet, enduring ways.
Later in life, Claudette was also blessed with a stepdaughter, Debbie Buel, and her husband John, whose presence brought new joy and connection to the family. Though their time together came later, Claudette welcomed them with warmth and sincerity, and deeply appreciated the relationship they shared.
She was a proud and loving grandmother to Briane Brown, Jesse Walker, Katie Brown, Sarah Brown (Stuart Turner), and Matthew Brown, and a devoted great-grandmother to Benjamin and Brooklyn, whom she helped to lovingly care for in her later years. She also leaves behind her loving sister-in-law, Phyllis.
Claudette played a uniquely formative role in the life of her granddaughter Briane, with whom she shared many years of day-to-day life. Through that time together, Claudette became a steady presence—raising, guiding, and nurturing Briane with quiet strength, endless love, and deep patience. The bond they shared was rooted in shared routines and countless everyday moments that left a lasting imprint. The values Claudette passed down—resilience, kindness, and a sense of responsibility—took root in Briane and continue to echo into the next generation. Her influence lives on, not just in memory, but in the way love and care are now given forward.
A woman of deep faith, Claudette’s belief in God was a quiet but steady compass throughout her life. Her church community at Grace Family Bible Fellowship—a fellowship her beloved husband Arnold helped name—was a source of spiritual connection, friendship, and strength. Those who knew her will remember her not only for her warmth and wisdom, but also for her feisty spirit and stubborn streak—traits that brought strength, humor, and unforgettable charm to her personality.
As per Claudette’s wishes, there will be no formal service. The family invites loved ones to remember her in their own way—with a quiet prayer, a warm memory, or an act of kindness in her honor.
Claudette will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
