Obituary of Judi Sue Jackson
Peacefully on Tuesday, May 20th, 2025 surrounded by her loving family, we regret to announce the passing of Judi Sue Jackson (nee Van Beek) after a year long battle with ALS. Judi was in her 63rd year. Judi was born August 1, 1962 in Sheldon, Iowa to parents Jean and Joseph Van Beek. Judi was a loving wife to husband Ken Jackson for 37 years, mother of Mark Jackson and Andi Jackson; grandmother of Emilia; sister to Carol Van Beek of Los Angeles, California, Dave (Doris) Van Beek of Hull, Iowa and Ed (Deb) Van Beek of Grand Rapids, Michigan. Aunt to numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her mother Jean Hirth (nee Oosterheert) (2020) and father Joseph Van Beek (2014). An avid reader and general lover of books, Judi got to travel quite a bit to see different parts of the world but was most happy at home with a good book. She enjoyed collecting rocks and spent countless hours searching for rocks no matter where she went in this world and they are on display throughout our house and property. Judi also loved watching figure skating and connecting with other fans from around the world through FSU Universe. She loved her cats and insisted on having at least two in the house through her lifetime. Also a fan of tennis, Judi could be heard throughout the house when whoever she was rooting for made a comeback, or scored a point. Judi was a long time employee of Coles books and also worked as a proctor at Fanshawe College for many years. Judi was extremely knowledgeable partially due to the enormous amount of books she read throughout her life. You wanted her on your team if you were playing Trivial Pursuit. She loved visiting her family both here and in the states, and enjoyed multiple family reunions where great games of Peanuts were played with all of her nieces and nephews. Judi was a kind, loving and compassionate person and will be sorely missed. Cremation has taken place and her ashes will be spread at the Old St Thomas Churchyard in the Memory Gardens. Arrangements entrusted to Simplicity Cremation 203-750 Talbot Street, St Thomas, N5P 1E2 (226-210-1086). A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 28th, 2025 at the Springwater Schoolhouse, 8079 Springwater Road, RR#5 Aylmer from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Donations in memory of Judi to ALS Canada would be greatly appreciated.
