Obituary of Sheila Jean Legg

LEGG, Sheila Jean (Sturmey) – Passed away on Saturday, May 17th, 2025, at the age of 83. Loved daughter of Hazel and Frederick, and sister to Roger and the late Frederick. Beloved wife of Alan Legg for 61 years, and devoted mother to Simon Legg (Dianne) and Emma Jenkins (Jeff). Sheila was a proud grandmother to Melissa, Kaitlyn, Laura, Amanda, Molly, and David, and great-grandmother to Olive.

Sheila was born on March 26th, 1942, in Newchurch on the Isle of Wight, UK. She was an accomplished swimmer, and also enjoyed playing field hockey and running cross-country. Sheila met Alan in 1957 when the vicar she worked for as a nanny moved to the parish where Alan lived. They married in March 1964 and recently celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary.

In November 1975, the family emigrated to Canada. Sheila’s Canadian journey took her to Toronto, Calgary, St. Thomas, and finally Port Stanley, where she resided until her passing at Extendicare Long Term Care Home.

The family would like to thank Extendicare Port Stanley for their love, care, and compassion for Sheila. Your kindness will never be forgotten.

A private internment of ashes will take place at later date.
